Anavex Completes Clinical Conduct of Blarcamesine DDI and ADME Studies

Anavex completed clinical conduct of the DDI study (last participant end of September) and the ADME study (last participant mid-October) of blarcamesine in healthy volunteers. Both studies enrolled participants at 30 mg dose with no serious adverse events reported in preliminary observations; full safety and PK data analysis is ongoing. The data are expected to support the FDA-focused development program for Alzheimer’s disease as well as Rett syndrome and Fragile X syndrome programs.

Anavex Receives FDA IND Clearance for Blarcamesine in Fragile X Syndrome

FDA cleared the IND for blarcamesine (ANAVEX2-73) in Fragile X syndrome, allowing Anavex to proceed with a planned Phase 2a safety, tolerability, and PK study in adult males. Anavex now has open INDs in all three core indications (Alzheimer’s, Rett syndrome, and Fragile X). Blarcamesine previously received Orphan Drug Designation for Fragile X syndrome.
