Anthropic and OpenAI IPO Tracker: Where Each Listing Stands

Quick answer (October 18, 2026): No. Neither Anthropic nor OpenAI has gone public, and neither has a ticker, a price range or a confirmed listing date. Anthropic confidentially submitted a draft S-1 to the SEC on June 1, 2026; reports say it plans to file publicly around October 26, start its roadshow on November 9 and price the following week, at a valuation of about $2 trillion. OpenAI confidentially filed on June 8, 2026 and has said it has not decided on timing; its CFO has told staff it will be a public company in 2027. SpaceX, the other mega-listing of 2026, went public on June 12 at $135 a share.

Updated October 18, 2026: Anthropic's reported filing and roadshow dates, its third-quarter revenue as reported from an investor meeting, OpenAI's new funding talks, and SpaceX's October 16 close added.

Anthropic has not gone public yet. The maker of Claude took the first formal step on June 1, 2026, when it confidentially submitted a draft registration statement on Form S-1 to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. That filing is not public, so there is no prospectus to read, no share count, no price range and no ticker. Anthropic said the number of shares and the price "have not yet been set" and that any offering depends on market conditions. Everything about timing beyond that comes from press reports, and this page labels it that way.

OpenAI has not gone public either. It said on June 8, 2026 that it had confidentially submitted an S-1 and had "not decided on timing yet". Since then its leadership has pointed to 2027.

This page is a permanent reference for both listings. It separates what each company has confirmed from what has only been reported, gives the latest private valuation with its date and round, lists every funding round in order, and shows which public companies have disclosed stakes. It is updated whenever a filing, a new round or a credible report changes the picture.

Has Anthropic Gone Public? When Is the Anthropic IPO?

Anthropic is still a private company. Here is the difference between what is on the record and what is reported.

Confirmed by Anthropic:

Reported, not confirmed:

  • Public filing around October 26, roadshow from November 9, pricing the following week, raising up to $100 billion at a $2 trillion valuation, with Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs as joint bookrunners (IFR, citing a person familiar with the process, October 2026).
  • Formal marketing as soon as the week of November 9 and trading before Thanksgiving (November 26), with a debut no later than year-end (Bloomberg, October 1, 2026).
  • Exchange: the Nasdaq, according to Business Insider (September 13, 2026).
  • Banks: Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan and Citi are among the banks working on the deal (Reuters via CNBC, September 5, 2026).

The dates have already moved once. In early September Reuters reported that marketing would start in mid-October at the earliest and that the prospectus would not become public until late September. Neither happened on that schedule.

One SEC rule makes the next step easy to watch. A company that filed confidentially must publicly file its registration statement at least 15 days before any roadshow. If the roadshow really starts on November 9, a public S-1 should appear on SEC EDGAR around October 25 or earlier. Until it does, every date above is a plan, not a fact.

Has OpenAI Gone Public? When Is the OpenAI IPO?

OpenAI is private. Its June 8 statement read: "We recently submitted a confidential S-1. We expect it to leak so we're just announcing it. We have not decided on timing yet; it may be a while because there are things we want to do that are likely easier as a private company."

Since then:

  • Late June 2026: The New York Times reported that OpenAI might delay its debut until 2027 (CNBC).
  • August 2026: CFO Sarah Friar told employees OpenAI "will be a public company in 2027", or sooner if "our business continues to inflect" (CNBC). An employee share sale of roughly $7 billion was completed at the $852 billion valuation.
  • September 2026: Sam Altman said he doesn't "have a particular timeline in mind" and wants to "put safety and mission first" (CNBC, DevDay). Investors floated a new round at $1.2 trillion (CNBC, September 16), and Bloomberg reported talks to raise at least $30 billion at about $1.4 trillion (TechCrunch, September 29). No new round has been announced.

So the most specific signal for OpenAI is the CFO's "2027". There is no reported filing date, roadshow date or price range.

From $61.5 billion to $965 billion took 15 months. That is a 15.7-fold increase in the private price, and it is why a $2 trillion IPO target, if accurate, would still be roughly double the last round.

What Anthropic's Prospectus Shows So Far (as Reported)

The public S-1 is not out, so the only financial picture comes from reporters who have seen the confidential draft or attended investor meetings. Treat these as reported figures until the filing appears on EDGAR.

Run-rate revenue figures that Anthropic itself has published tell the same story of speed: about $1 billion at the start of 2025, more than $5 billion in August 2025, $14 billion in February 2026 and more than $47 billion in May 2026.

How the Structures Differ

Both companies are public benefit corporations, which means their directors must weigh a stated public mission alongside shareholder returns. The control arrangements are different.

  • Anthropic, PBC pairs the PBC form with a Long-Term Benefit Trust: five financially disinterested trustees who select a portion of the board that grows over time, ultimately a majority. How the trust's powers carry over into a listed company will be one of the first things to read in the public S-1.
  • OpenAI Group PBC sits under the nonprofit OpenAI Foundation. At the October 28, 2025 recapitalization the foundation held 26% (about $130 billion), Microsoft about 27% (about $135 billion) and current and former employees and investors 47%. That replaced the old capped-profit model.
  • SpaceX is a conventional dual-class company: Class B shares carry 10 votes, which gives Elon Musk control with a minority of the economic interest.

SpaceX: The Mega-IPO That Went First

SpaceX is the only one of the three that has listed, and it is the comparison every Anthropic and OpenAI story now uses.

Public Companies With Disclosed Stakes (Data, Not Advice)

Ordinary investors cannot buy Anthropic or OpenAI shares on an exchange today. What exists are listed companies that have disclosed investments in them. The table records those disclosures; it is not a recommendation, and a stake is usually a small part of each company's value.

Some listed companies are tied to Anthropic as suppliers or landlords rather than shareholders: Akamai signed an $11.6 billion, seven-year cloud contract in September 2026, and TeraWulf a 20-year data-center lease worth about $19 billion. Those deals move with Anthropic's compute spending, not with its share price.

Amazon's filing also states that it expects a customary lock-up after an Anthropic IPO. Each SimianX stock page above carries a continuously refreshed multi-horizon AI read, and a live analysis session can put several AI models on any of these tickers at once.

How to Read Anthropic and OpenAI IPO Headlines

  1. Confidential is not public. A draft S-1 lets the SEC review the financials privately. Nothing is final until a public S-1 appears on EDGAR.
  2. Watch the 15-day clock. The public filing must come at least 15 days before the roadshow, so the public S-1 date tells you the earliest roadshow date.
  3. Price range, then pricing, then trading. The range comes in an amended S-1 at roadshow launch; the final price is set the night before the first trade.
  4. "Valuation" can mean four things: a post-money round price, a secondary-sale price, a reported IPO target and the market value after the first trade. SpaceX shows how far they can differ: $1.77 trillion at $135, about $2.1 trillion at the first close.
  5. Run-rate is not annual revenue. Anthropic's $47 billion run rate in May 2026 sits next to $4.6 billion of reported 2025 revenue.

The size of these listings matters for the wider market as well. For context on how today's AI spending compares with past booms, see every tech bubble since 1929 and how much of their cash flow big tech now spends on AI.
